Work Visa Denials? 2010/11/16 00:42
Am i allowed to teach in Japan if I am HIV positive. I have received noticed from my doctor stating I am in good health and my status will not hender me from teaching. Will this be a problem with me getting my work visa in Japan?

no HIV test for visa 2010/11/17 08:03
There is no health check or HIV test for the actual visa (unlike in Korea for example), but individual employers sometimes require health checks to be done before you start work with them.

Other employers have no such requirements, however in the current competitive employment market if you inform them of your status I think you could expect to be passed over for a lot of jobs.

If you don't inform them and it comes up later, I would expect it to be a major issue unfortunately unless you find an extremely open-minded employer.
