im japanese and im gonna give you the best advice.

any apartment that doesnt charge key money, you end up paying the key money due to higher rent prices... for example,sakura house for example have shared appartments in nakano for 75000yen, where as realestate agents next advertise appartments NEXT to it, private appartments for 55,000yen per month... thats where your "no key money" gets you.

as far as no deposit, VERY few apartments will rent without deposit. and if you find one that actually does, you will be paying a lot more per month, to cover that.

just to note. most real estate agencies are reluctant to deal with forigners, and some even charge MORE per month than they charge a jaapnese.
