Best place to eat crab in Hokkaido? 2011/1/11 16:58
Will be in Hokkaido for the snow festival 2011. Looking for the best reasonably priced, possible ''all you can eat'' place to eat crab. Also best place for sushi in Hokkaido? Any specific restaurants? Thank you!

Any place would be fine - as long as it is Hokkaido!

I loved Kushiro - they had some excellent crabs there!!

Sushi Restaurant 2011/1/16 02:19
Sushizen is the best sushi restaurant in Sapporo. (Address: North 1 West 27, Chuo-ku, Sapporo)
http://www.sushizen.co.jp/en/
But problem is that this restaurant is so expensive. (US$200+ per person)

Saikaku is popular among local people.

I recommend that you try 4 kinds of tuna sushi.

O(o)-Toro - very fatty tuna
Chu(u)-Toro - medium fatty tuna
Akami - plain tuna
Zuke - Akami seasoned with soy sauce.

"Hyousetsu no Mon" is the one of famous crab restaurants in Sapporo.
("Hyousetsu no Mon" means Gate of ice and snow.)

sushi in sapporo and hokkaido 2011/3/11 02:03
Hokkaido is sushi paradise! Usually big pieces of fresh delicious fish on well mixed sushi rice. In sapporo there is a nice sushi restaurant called "SHUNRAKU" its in a commercial building near the famous sapporo clock tower.
But there is a small local restaurant name "clipper" in the next town of tomakomai a port town 45 mins from sapporo. They have the best local and very affordable sushi in hokkaido i think. Its about 130-160Y a platter, very fresh fish.. another place is called "HANAMARU" near to tomakomai's Aeon Jusco mall.
