Marriage & visa question 2011/1/27 04:13
I intend on marrying my Japanese fiancé in a few months and to that end I will be travelling to Japan on a tourist visa and then eupgradef to a spousal visa once I am married. However, as a UK citizen a proviso of the tourist visa is that I must have a return ticket when I enter Japan. This means that I will have to buy a return ticket and then cancel it (thus incurring cancellation charges) which seems a bit expensive since I have no intention of returning to the UK in the near future. Does anybody have any help or advice on this matter? Could I do this more cheaply?

Why do you have to cancel the return trip? Simply don't show up.
