Still safe to move to Takayama?

Hey,
My hubby and I have got a dream teaching job in Takayama, in the Japanese Alps. We have our visas and our flights are booked for the 17th of April. We have been looking forward to this for months.
We really cant believe what has happened with the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear plants. Colleagues in Japan have said that the news is sensationalizing it a lot and that we would still be safe to come.
Whats other teachers/ residents of Takayama's opinions? Would like to hear from other teachers who are in Japan now.
We are flying in to Narita, then staying over night in Tokyo, then taking the bus to Takayama.

Takayama is quite far from the epicenter of the earthquake and from fukushima, so it is perfectly safe, you don't have to worry!
