Where can me and a friend of my go to a nice club or bar???

Because my friend (My friend is a guy by the way) is having a birthday sometime next month and I'm taking him to japan for a week or two and I wanted to make it fun for him.

And where else can I take him on his birthday???? Thanks for helping me out.

Really don't know 2011/5/24 12:55
I really don't know yet. I was thinking of Tokyo or around that area.

P.S. My friend doesn't know about anything of this, and I wanted to surpize him in a big way of what clubs to go too and maybe a bath house or two-

Tokyo clubs 2011/5/24 13:05
I haven't been myself, but I hear that Womb and AgeHa are some of Tokyo's popular clubs:

Not sure what kind of bars you're looking at but the New York Bar in the Park Hyatt Hotel in Shinjuku was made popular by the movie Lost in Translation. It has a ridiculous cover charge though after 8pm (sunday 7pm) so check it out early to avoid that.

Thanks 2011/5/24 13:12
Thanks, I was thinking of taking him to a gay bar just to get him really really mad at me frist then to a place were it's going be like a big surpize (I hope you know what I mean)....

Do you know a mix bath house is at around Tokyo? Or do I need to travel else where for that?

bath house 2011/5/24 13:45
I don't think a mixed bath house (hot spring) is what you're looking for. Mixed hot springs, which, as they are hot springs, tend to be found in the rural mountainous regions of Japan, are predominantly frequented by men. When women use mixed baths they bathe wrapped in towels.

So you may want to rethink your plan unless you really want take your friend to a gay bar followed by a hot spring full of naked men.

You can find PLENTY of gay bars in Ni-chome. It's near Shinjuku Station, you can actually take the ni-chome exit. It's right outside the East Exit towards Kabukicho. That area might be surprising enough. There's a popular bar there called Arty Farty's (http://www.utopia-asia.com/japntoky.htm). There are also new-half shows.

To continue to shock him, you can take him to a new-half show (transexuals) in Roppongi: http://r.gnavi.co.jp/g181600/lang/en/

Then stick around there as you're likely to be able to just follow the crowd to some crowded club. Many people frown on Roppongi, but if you're just visiting, then it's the place to go if you want to make sure it's packed. You can also check out F-Bar (fashion bar) near AzabuJuban Station where models get in free, also usually packed. Or check out Vanity, across from Donki. Always packed, women are free, and has a nice view of the city...from the bathroom. Another shady place, but great for pick-up and bizarre atmosphere is Muse down in Nishi-Azabu (also free for women). Just about all of these places will be backed after 12 on a weekend.

Another popular spot is Shibuya. Lots of bars and some clubs that are also usually packed around 11pm. The crowd is more Japanese, a bit younger, and usually puking in the streets by 6pm. It's also a bit more expensive to get in (3,000+/ person). Womb is probably the largest club there, it's mostly electronic music, and I'm not sure it's really worth the price of admittance.

Totally separate from the rest is Ageha. It's a huge club out in Shinkiba. Once you go out there, you'll be out all night or until the 5am bus to Shibuya starts running again. Ageha's expensive, but has various rooms with a real variety of music playing (even a beach area). They sell drinks all sorts of food and is set-up near the bay. If you're going to go out all night, this might be a more comfortable spot to choose.

Good luck and enjoy!
