Japanese Musical Instrument shop 2011/6/15 15:49
A friend of mine is interested in purchasing japanese musical instruments for collecting as a hobby.
WE'll be headed to Tokyo, Kanazawa, Shirakawago and Takayama in November.

Any chances of coming across such shops in the above mentioned cities?

Thanks in advance!!!

Amelia,

You can buy Japanese instruments in any city, but it's more about pinpointing what instrument you want to buy. For example, shamisen and shakuhachi are sold at a whole different place.

What does your friend usually play and how devoted is your friend on maintenance? Traditional instruments often need extra care while supplies of parts may not be easy to obtain. Maybe the so-called "narimono" which are flutes and percussion instruments will be easier to handle.
