Where to find a bilingual map or atlas? 2011/8/4 07:39
I am leaving to Japan in a few days, I will be going through the countryside lots so a bilingual(English-Japanese) map book or atlas would be handy. Where can I get one in Japan(Tokyo). Thanks!

I've only ever been in one book shop in Japan (book off), and haven't looked for maps, BUT we do have a copy of this (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/4770031289/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/188-3429...) one and it's very good. Perhaps print it out to show staff if you can't buy it before leaving.

Japan Atlas is a good book to get.

Also, every Japan National Tourism Organization (see web http://www.jnto.go.jp) spot in Japan and abroad will have tons of free maps. (Same with most Japanese travel agencies.)

Like just show up on the 1st day, ask, and you'll get tons and tons and tons of bilingual maps for the areas you want to visit.
(Yep, loaded with free maps that way...)

They also provide Tons of brochures and help on local places to stay, eat, etc. in English, etc. for tourists.
