What exactly is CATV?

I've seen on the website and some others. I assumed it means cable tv,but I also saw something similar which is confusing me.

I guess CATV can be an abbreviation for more than one thing. But in general you are right: it stands for cable TV (actual for Community Antenna Television).

As far as I know, in Japan CATV always means "cable television." Chrisd1357, what else did you see?

Please try googling "CATV." Wikipedia page explains what CATV originally stood for, and how it came to be used to refer to cable TV as well :)

Not that I understand it well (I'm quite "IT-declined" lol), but at least it gives the abbreviations right there at the beginning :)
