They used to but they withdrew from the Japanese market around 2000.

thank you for the answer. That sucks there is no Dairy Queen in Japan, seems all my favorite restuarants from the U.S. failed in Japan such as Taco Bell, Burger King and Dairy Queen. I dislike McDonalds so much, even in Japan the McDonalds food is not that good.

Burger King came back a few years ago. Here's a list of their outlets:

Taco Bell is also around, but you'll need to know someone who works on a US military base to get it for you.

" seems all my favorite restuarants from the U.S. failed in Japan"

That's because the US food sucks so bad compared to Japanese food in general...

Hmm, but McDonalds, KFC, Krispy Kreme, Donut Plant, Dean and Deluca, Starbucks, and Costco are wildly popular in Japan...

"McDonalds, KFC, Krispy Kreme, Donut Plant, Starbucks.." Only Americans would call these restaurants!
Dean and Deluca is a upscale grocery, with a deli and catering section,..not a restaurant.

And only a snooty, we invented culture, Frenchmen would object to calling them otherwise ;)

Anyway, that's beside the point. I didn't mean to point out only restaurants (as most obviously are not), rather just showing some examples of extremely successful American food chains in Japan. Not all foreign fast food chains have failed in Japan.

They had a Wendy's in Kiobashi. Also in Kobe near the Sheraton Hotel. They tasted the same as in the states.

Frogs of any colour aren't only found in France..

Actually the French culture, including cooking and music, originated in Italy and was brought by all the Italians that came to France during the Renaissance. No to mention the Greeks and Romans before them....
Isn't the US culture mostly based on European culture anyway?

"Isn't the US culture mostly based on European culture anyway?"

I guess sometime it is. But the Americans perfected it for a larger croud. And there are examples the other way around. Take the pizza. Nowadays they even eat it in Italy ;-)

The McDonalds burgers taste different from the ones your probably used to, but they have a whole section where you can buy food for 100 yen. On those days I felt really poor or just didn't want to try new foods, I'd just go there and ask for a burger. they flip the menu over to an English one if you need it.
