Exclusive Japan Brands 2011/11/1 01:55
Hi all,

May I know what are the types of Japan brands (bags, sports wear, wallets) that are exclusive in Japan and seldom found elsewhere in other countries?

Will be going to Japan soon so hoping to compile a list to check them out :)

Thanks for any help!

Yoshida-Kaban is one of the great brands for bags. I use Tumi usually, but some day I would want a Yoshida. Good leather bags are some $1,000.

PearlIzumi is the sportwear brand for road bikers like me. Maybe it's not your sport.

Yonex is another Japanese brand for sportswear for tennis, golf, etc. But I assume you can buy one outside Japan...or you already know the brand.

Takeo Kikuchi is my favorite leather wallet desiner's brand run by World (good mens fashion brand). You find them easily at any of the department stores in cities. Wallets are somewhere between $120-$250.

But you must see if they are made in Japan or not after all. Yoshida should be Japan made.

Burberry Blue Label and Black Label are exclusive to Japan and HK. I think blue is supposed to be slightly less expensive than their regular line, while black is a sort of premium branding.

A Bathing Ape (BAPE) is a fairly well known Japanese brand. It's not Japan exclusive though as they have a few international stores (and they were recently sold to a HK company). Its relatively expensive but They have an outlet in Harajuku and Karuizawa.

FYI, Yoshida-Kaban bags is the maker behind the Porter brand. They are a popular briefcase maker and very similar to the Tumi brand as the other poster metioned.

Coke tends to release seasonal flavours that are exclusive to Japan for one season only. You might try those out while you're there because you certainly won't find it in any other country.

Many snack food companies that you might find in America release peculiar flavours that are exclusive to Japan.

Haha, that's a good idea. Quick note though, its pepsi that has the seasonal flavors. Right now its Pepsi Pink (strawberry and milk flavored).
