Sushi Restaurant in Ginza 2011/11/21 15:09
Where can I have dinner (Sushi) with family in Ginza on 1-2 JAN 2012?

If you know the famous restaurant, please suggest me.

According to the Yahoo gourmet site, there are 364 shushi bars in Ginza, low to high end. As far as they are surviving there, you can not make a big mistake no matter which one you choose.

I would suggest you ask your hotel upon your arrival to assist you picking a few for your convenience of transportation, favorite atmosphere, price range, etc.

Since most restaurants are closed on those days, your best bet might be a hotel restaurant. Kyubei is a famous sushiya that has a branch in the Hotel Okura: http://www.bento.com/rev/3486.html (but double-check to make sure they're open, and try to reserve as soon as possible).

Hi, TOPU.

First, you'd better make a budget.
Because, it seems to me "Sushi in Ginza" is very expensive.

And do you want to go the kaiten-zushi that is conveyor belt sushi restaurant? or traditional sushi counter?

By the way, you can eat in Tukiji, so there is an adjacent town.
But, the famous fish market will be closed in Year-end and New-Year holidays.
And so many sushi restaurants in Tokyo will be closed too.
(Because they can't get the most fresh fishes.)

Dear All

Budget about 5,000 - 6,000 JPY/Meal/Pax,
This budget will be ok for traditional sushi counter or not?

PS. I think that sushi is a 1 meal for this trip^^

Hmm, Kyubei starts at Y6000/person for their cheapest meal, but that doesn't include service charge.

The main consideration you have to work with is that around 99% of restaurants in Tokyo will be closed on January 1, and maybe 97% will be closed on January 2. So your pool of choices isn't the 360 sushi restaurants in Ginza and certainly not anything in Tsukiji, it's Japanese restaurants inside hotels that have a sushi counter.

Also note that since the fish market is closed you won't be getting the freshest fish, especially on January 2.

Sorry, I have never eat sushi in Ginza.

But, for reference.
"Midori-zusi" is a famous sushi chain store, I know the shop in Shibuya.
http://www.sushinomidori.co.jp/ginza.html
It will open on 2nd January at 11:00-20:30.

And "Hina-zushi" is the famous restaurant offering as much as one can eat for a standard charge.
For example, 4,189yen for adults and 2,089yen for children(under 10y.o.) per 2hours.

It will open throughout the year at 11:30-21:30.

But, maybe it will be very crowded.
Sorry, I'm unsure...

Hina-Sushi would be a good choice, except unfortunately they are closed on January 1, contrary to what the previous poster has posted.

You might have more choices on January 2, although as I mentioned the fish market will be closed so you won't be eating fresh fish.
