In Japan do we have year end shopping offers? If so where could i get best deals on electronic items during christmas and new year.

On and around New Years, you can buy a "fukubukuro" meaning a "lucky bag." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fukubukuro) Many stores grab a bunch of items, put them at 50% off, and put them into a mystery bag. You never know what you're going to get though.

If you don't like what you get and it's a major store, you can stand outside waving the object for "trade."

These bags usually cost about 10,000 although some are a little cheaper and some are more expensive.

Went to Japan mid-January 2010 and saw some of these still around! Warning, this is a HUGE sale time in Japan and the lines will be humongous. Some places have people shouting with microphones.
