Tsukiji Restaurants on Christmas Day? 2011/12/14 05:59
I'm planning to go to Tsukiji on Sunday December 25. According to the schedule it is a partial opened day. However, it falls on a Sunday. What are the chances that Sushi Dai or Daiwa sushi will be opened? Do they open on partial open market days?

It's (臨時開市日) not a "partial open" day. It's usually closed (Sunday) but on this day, it's open regardless.

臨時開市日 means that usually it is a holiday, but exceptionally on that day it is not a holiday. So, everything should be open.

Be prepared for massive crowds, packed parking lots, train station and restaurant outlets. Blend with the usual wholesalers, retailers, more household shoppers (carrying cold storage bags)storm the market on the last weekend to stock up for New Year home seafood cooking. It is a chance to witness more than usual abundance of fresh sea produce and crowds on 2011 Christmas Sunday -and it stays open.
