Japanese Travel to the US 2011/12/14 15:56
Ok, I personally am an American, but my friend will be coming with me to America for winter break this weekend. (to the east coast). We will be staying at my parents' place.

Basic stuff like clothes are a given, but what are some extra things that specifically my Japanese friend should take. Mabye some things you would know to give as advice for a Japanese person going to the US or something easy to overlook.

Not all OEM Japanese cellphone chargers are universal voltage and may not work properly in the US. Make sure your travel companion's charger reads something like "input: 100-240v"

Also be sure to have them fill out the ESTA application online before you go:
