Is it ok to buy items from Amazon Japan and sending it to our hotel at Kyoto? Would it be safe?

Safe? Of course. Just have the address and all correctly. You may inform the hotel clerk beforehand that you've ordered something from amazon.

I did exactly this a month ago, from Amazon too.
No problem at all, just put the hotel address into the postage section and told my lovely front reception to expect it.
Amazon JP has scheduled delivery times if you so choose, I used this...
Easy shopping!
