Will a Japanese Rice Cooker work in the US?

Below are pictures for the Zojirushi NP-GE05E7 I know that JP uses 100 V @ 60 Hz and the US uses 120 V @ 120 Hz. I know that I may need a transformer but a huge one to lower that 20V down. The plug of the rice cooker is unpolarized. Unlike some other JPN brands at the store, this one did not say, ''Do not use outside of JPN.'' Furthermore, one of the store managers consulted with another who eventually said, it'll be OK. Finally, the plug outlet says ''15A 125V'' .... which to me sounds OK, but as a kid, I have a record of breaking stereo's, cassette recorders, light bulbs, and erasing video game data. please help!!! http://www.japan-guide.com/m/report_image.html?aMES=detail&aID=5http://www.japan-guide.com/m/report_image.html?aMES=detail&aID=4http://www.japan-guide.com/m/report_image.html?aMES=detail&aID=3http://www.japan-guide.com/m/report_image.html?aMES=detail&aID=2http://www.japan-guide.com/m/report_image.html?aMES=detail&aID=1

I logged in and I still can't see the pictures. :(
Are you in Japan now? Is buying another rice cooker viable for you? Or are you in the US now? There are a few places that sell export models (also called international or overseas) online and in Tokyo, specifically made for using outside of Japan.

It shouldn't be a problem, if it survives the initial plug in USA. I haven't had any problem with Japanese appliances brought to US, i.e. toaster oven, lamps, etc. If you are nervous, buy it in US. Japanese & Chinese supermarkets & net shops carry Zozirushi & other brands.

Hi, Using a rice cooker is the same as using a water boiler or Japanese washlet outside Japan. So search this site on 'washer' and you get some idea on how to resolve this voltage problem (frequency is no problem as Japan uses both 50 as 60 Hz and in the US 60Hz is used). (I would just use it without any transformer in the US) B. Slager

Zojirushi rice cooker or any appliances you buy in Japan work just fine in the USA. No problem at all. The US appliances work just fine in Japan as well.
