Parents meet the Japanese parents 2012/1/2 18:07
We are the parent of a son who is visiting his girlfriend in Japan. We are panning to meet the girlfriend's parents on skype. What is the etiquette in this situation. Their English is very limited, and my English is not too good. Is there compliments that should be given to the in-laws about their daughter, etc.

I am not sure the purpose of your meeting, but I believe no too much concern needed.

Maybe girl friend's parents are also considering the same, and would be reliefed to see friendly and polite looking people.

So my suggestion would be just smile and look nice.

Complicated translation can be done by children.
