Classical style Opera or Symphony hall? 2012/1/31 18:11
Is there any non-modern style opera house/hall, theatre or symphony hall or house in Japan that has a classical architectural style like an old European opera house/symphony hall?

All the opera or symphony places in Japan I tried to search are very contemporary/modern inside, for example the sleek modern Tokyo Opera City Hall, which is not my idea of what an Opera hall should look like since I like fancy architecture and antiques.

Opera doesn't have a old history in Japan. It only goes back to the late 19th century. Tokyo and other towns were badly damaged during WWII, this why there are no truly ancient opera houses in Japan.
"The earliest Japanese performing troupes specializing in western opera were Fujiwara Opera (founded 1934) and Nikikai Opera Theatre (founded 1952)"

Even in Europe there are less truly ancient opera houses than you think. There are only a handful that were built between 1752 and 1800.
Unlike the several thousands of churches going back from the early Middle Ages to the late 18th century.

@aJapaneseboy --Well not exactly what I was looking for, but I am interested in visiting kabuki as well sometime.

And thanks RedFrog for the info, I live in Japan so I guess I will have to wait until I visit Europe on a trip to see an opera in an opera house.

oh and I forgot to mention it does not have to be an actually old Opera house or anything I meant even a remake or a replica of an old Opera house or hall in the fancy classical style, so new construction if its its replicated in an old style

Tokyo Music School Symphony Hall 2012/2/3 12:26
How about Tokyo Music School Symphony Hall?
(旧東京音楽学校奏楽堂)

It was build in 1890 and re-constructed in 1987 in Ueno Park.
