NTT WiFi Hotspot 2012/3/12 14:23
Hi Guys,
Ill be in japan in 2 weeks and want to subscribe to wifi hotspot.
Do I just sign up when I get there or is there something else I can do?

Is NTT the only provider for WiFi?
I want to use my smartphone, I don't want to hire a dongle.

Yes, you can just sign up on a per day basis. You will need to be able to read Japanese, and some services may only accept Japanese credit cards. Paid wifi typically costs 500 yen/day.

Alternatively, check out Skype Wifi. That will allow you to connect and pay via your home currency and language. Note that their prices are more expensive than paid wifi day passes but provide you with more flexibility when connecting.

No, there are dozens of paid wifi providers.
