Japanese to English translation 2012/5/8 06:35
I recently bought a sunscreen product from Japanese website, and as far as I was told all the stock is fresh. I just noticed that there's a little date printed (1-14-10) in the text, though. Is that the expiration date? I can't tell because I can't read the writing around it. Please help translate what it says! Here's a link to the image text: http://www.flickr.com/photos/7591460@N05/7153962405/

Thank you in advance!

I can't read it, but I am pretty sure that is just the address of the Kao organisation:-

http://www.kao.com/jp/soudan/

In general expiry dates are written in a different font/colour due to being printed by a different machine than the designed packaging.

Hope this helps!

In japan, Dates are always written as Year/Month/Day like 2012/05/08 or 12.05.08.

GC3 is correct, that's part of the address of Kao's headquarters in Tokyo. Specifically here:

I confirm that it's a part of the address.

Remember that Japanese sometimes use their own year, i.e., this year is Seijyo 24. So today will be written as 24-5-9.

T with a bar on top is the postal icon followed by zip code, address, tel. no.
If there is the manufactured or expiration date, it is done by a high speed black dot matrix printing or stamping on the cap or on the side as it flows the manuf. line.
2012 is Heisei 24. Where did you get Seijyo?
It is not used for date printing or stamping on products.
