Roof tiles on Todai-ji temple Nara in 1970 2012/6/23 04:08
On the 16th August 1970 my father signed a roof tile for the Todai-ji temple Nara. I wanted to know if these tiles are still on the temple to this day.

I guess your father donated roof tile for repair of Great Buddha Hall of Showa period. (The repair was large scale, so needed people's donation). If so, the roof tile is still on roof of the Hall. Probably it will remain there till next repair (next century?).

The repair was completed on March 1980. Here is a picture of ceremony of completion.

They are still doing that now. My wife and I signed a tile in June 2010
