Best traditional tattoo shop in Japan? 2012/7/7 02:32
I was wondering, what are the names of some of the best traditional tattoo shops in Japan? I'm thinking about getting a full back/body/arm tattoo when I go to Japan, and I just want to know what's the best place to go. And approximately how much would it cost to have a full body (including arm, thighs, back and front) piece by them. Some reference pictures would be nice too!

Thanks and have a good day!

You should also note that there is a bit of a cultural stigma against tattoos (more so than in the States). If you have visible tattoos, you may be denied entry into some establishments.

Do you any real idea of what you are asking..??
First of all, you can't just rock up and make an appointment easy-peasy to get into a traditional tattoo place and second of all do you have any real idea of how long that would take to get done in a traditional way..?? If your "visit" is anything shorter than a couple of years, you're dreaming.

I am a professional Tattoo artist working in Tokyo near to Shibuya.
Studied traditional japanese tattoo over 7years under the tradional tattoo family.

To start your full body tattoo, normally artist need to look and mesure your body and start drawing. Artist needs 1 or 2 weeks to finish your design but it really depends on artist.

Please check my flicker Japanese tattoo page, you can find a full back dragon piece. It took about 30hours to finish and cost \330,000-. Full sleeve(including chest) cost around \250,000 to \300,0000-.
I think this is average traditional tattoo price in japan.

You can check works on my facebook page or flicker page.
