will i find any clothes or shoes?

hey, i'm going to japan next year and i'm quiet worried about my size and weight right now. it seems like i'll be considered huge in japan, i'm about 6'6 (168cm) and my weight is somewhere between 160-165lbs (72-75kg) .. i'm going to diet so i hope to lose about 15-20lbs, but i will still be huge in japan, right?
btw, me shoe size is a japanese 25,5..so i guess, no new shoes for me, huh?

Tricky question - I encountered some Japanese men who were 6ft or over when I was in Japan, but not many, for sure. And even then the Japanese physical frame is kind of different to the Western.

You'd be best advised to look into specialist clothing outlets (they must exist, or the tall men I met would also be naked) but I suspect your options will be limited.

But there's a lot more to Japan than shopping, so don't worry about it too much.

I assume you mean you're 5'6" (which is 168cm). If you were 6'6" at that weight you probably wouldn't want to lose 20 pounds.

25.5 is pretty small for a shoe size; most shops carry up to size 28 or 27 at the very least.

Difficult to answer...
If the OP is male, he isn't huge and no need to lose weight, and not is not likely to have difficulties to buy clothes and shoes.
If the OP if female, she is very tall and it's understandable she wants to lose weight.
Also finding shoes of that size would be an issue.

It's interesting that you think that given a man and woman with the same BMI, the man "has no need to lose weight," but the woman does.

oh yeah, sorry, i'm 5'6, i just used the inch because not everybody uses cm, okay? so i don't know that scale very well

I'm sorry to say it, but even if you lose 20 pounds you will still have a fairly hard time finding clothes (and at your current weight, forget about it). I am not saying this as a criticism of your weight, because I am roughly your size. Where I live in the United States, I am fairly average, and I see a lot of women who are larger than me. When I go to Japan I feel like a blimp who has dropped into a parallel universe of teeny tiny people. Bring all your clothes with you, because trying to buy them over there can be a frustrating, even humiliating, experience.

Losing weight for health reasons or to feel better is fine, but don't torture yourself by trying to diet just so you can buy clothes over there or look more "normal." You basically just have to recognize that you will be out of the normal range for weight there, and instead of worrying about this, just accept yourself as you are and carry yourself with self-respect and dignity. It's easy to get depressed about your weight over there, so don't fall into that trap.

I find that people are generally kind to me in Japan and if they are making judgements, they keep them to themselves. So it has never been an issue for me.

I have no idea about shoes. Bring comfortable ones with you!

If you wish to buy some nice clothes, you should try plus size corner in department stores. Isetan in Shinjuku has 'Clover' size corner on the 2nd floor, carrying a wide range of nice clothes from many different brands.
(Though they tend to be rather pricey.)

If you want something affordble and comfortable, you should try Uniqlo, they also have XL size. (Maybe ZARA and GAP too.)

You will find it most difficult to find ladies' shoes of size 25.5cm though.
If you're staying in Japan for long, you should bring enough shoes.

i think the whole weight issue is really frustrating..
here at home i wear M or L and the fact that i won't find anything in japan makes me kinda sad because i actually feel fine..
but well..that's life
