I'm not fluent in Japanese. But I feel like these tattoos my friend have do not mean hat they're supposed to mean.

The first one says "Hope never dies." (THe font is not very artistic, though.)

The second one must be an attempt at "love" 愛, I can guess, but it is missing some strokes/shape is wrong, at least in Japanese.
