Chip & pin?

Hi
I am off to Japan in a few weeks and planning some yen over as well as some credit cards for shopping.
A quick question, I'm from UK, all our cards using the chip & pin device and no sigatures now accepted. Is Japan the same?

It depends on the establishment. Many establishments are equipped with the readers for payment by pin, but some establishments still require a signature.
