Sumo Competition 2012/10/11 00:54
Hey,

We are going to be in Japan from the 13th of October to the 6th of November.

We wanted to know if there are any sumo competitions in Japan in these dates, and if so - where and when exactly?

I tried to search but couldn't find something. Perhaps I missed something? As far as I know, there are always sumo competitions in Japan, no?

Thanks!

The Fukuoka tournament if from Nov.11-25.... Traveling so close to this tournament, I doubt there will be any competition or any large magnitude when you're in country.

There are 6 major tournaments: Jan, Mar, May, Jul, Sept, and Nov.

Yes, there are numerous single day options.

As above.

No. Sumo tournaments are only held six times throughout the year and only for 15 days each tournament.

There are sometimes special one day exhibitions or tournaments as shown above but these are not that common.

Enjoy your trip!
