Kushiro: Worth the visit for seafood? 2012/11/11 17:05
Is it worth the overnight stay/visit to Kushiro? I read good reviews on their freshest seafood, but I also read stuff that it is not worth the visit?

What is your opinion?

I have a JR pass and I like the fact they have a Toyoko Inn Kushiro! It is a 4 hour train from Sapporo to Kushiro.

I would not travel to Kuchiro just for foods. You can find the best in Hokkaido while you are in Sapporo.

Kushiro Marsh may be nice to visit though.

I am planning to visit Sapporo in two weeks but not Kushiro. I will go to Otaru instead for some fresh seafoods. Yet I believe I will find the best in Sapporo with a variety of food options.

You can go to any restaurant for fresh seafood in Hokkaido or any other port cities in Japan. But if you want to see what they are catching and cooked to order/sashimi cheap, the Kushiro seafood market near the JR station is a good place to visit.
