Moving Japan to US, what are the tax issues 2012/11/14 02:07
I want to move an employee from Japan to US. Do they have to pay any ''additional'' taxes in both Japan or US? They should pay taxes on the income they receive while they work in Japan or US but if they for example make 100,000 in the US, do they have to pay any special Japan taxes on this 100,000 (even though it was earned in the US)?

The short answer is no.

Now.. The employee may have a retirement account. Like social security or the Japanese version. The employee can contribute to it even if they live in another country.
I hope this helps.
