Its my grandads 80th birthday on the weekend and he stayed in Miyajima in 1954 at the age of 18 when he was in the army. He loves this place very much and I want to get him a framed picture of the island. Can someone please tell me, did the world heritage site use to be a hotel in 1954? Because i'm sure that is where he stayed over night. Also, what picture is best to get?

There have been various forms of accommodation on the island long before it became a World Heritage Site in 1996.
