Bringing home made cooked food to Japan 2012/11/20 07:07
I'm visiting my son during Xmas period in North Japan. I'm hoping to cook and freeze Jollof Rice (African version of savoury rice)so that we can have it for Xmas dinner. Will I be allowed to carry it through immigration?

Also my daughter is intolerant to wheat & lactose, will I be able to take some wheat - free boxes of cereal and carton of Long Life Lactose - free milk to Japan?

In general I think homemade goods may be more difficult. What specific ingredients you use may influence what is allowed.

In general I believe packaged products from developed countries are mostly allowed.

Don't be surprised if certain products get blocked.

Obviously declare all food products on the way in.

Maybe someone else with some more experience can assist.

Enjoy your trip!
