Hi,
I watched this show in the 80s, but I cannot remember the name. The plot was that a small girl follows the trail of her runaway white dog across Japan. I loved it as a kid. Anyone knows?

Never mind. It took some searching, but in the end I found it. The show is called "Ogon No Inu" (and the dog was the Kishu-Inu breed).
