We will be visiting family in Sendai for Christmas/New Year's. Last time we went during this time, we made our own mochi at a farm that was advertised on TV. We would like our daughter, who is 10, to be able to do this. Where can we make mochi in Sendai?

http://www.bouken-asobiba-net.com/?page_id=73There may be more at neighborhood community centers or temples/shrines but you need to ask around unless you get lucky like me in Tokyo. I saw something going on from my hotel window at the top of a hill nearby. I walked up and saw many district neighbors & kids gathered at a shrine property and making new year mochi, kinako-mochi, zenzai, etc. Anybody could join and eat & drink(sake, too) all free.
