I'm a pretty big guy 5'11 240 pounds I was wondering if they sell those bigger type shirts when their average is a lot smaller.
I once went to Darwin and spent most of my time one day looking for a shirt that would fit.

You can but not in most stores, you will have to find specialist stores in general I think.
Enjoy your trip!

Sakazen dominates Japanese casual and formal up to 6X which might fit, however the precise dimensions on L sizes in UK, US and Japan differs.
It caters exclusively to menwear except a few so ask/ring them for exact stores location for women wear large sizes.

Agreed about sakazen. Also try Shimamura, Nissen, Big-B ( http://www.big-b.jp/), and Grand Back (www.grand-back.jp/index.html)
