Re: COE processing times 2023/2/14 00:31
Hi ハコビ:)
Actually my agency, they’ve been doing a lot of COE process but mostly with “intern training” type of visa and for SSW, this is their first time with me and my 5 friends and I’m really glad that they did the job even it took long time :) I was told that it’d be 1-3 months and I was really devastated until today morning.

I’m from Cambodia and I will work in restaurants service field. How about you?

Anyway, from what I’ve read here I feel like SSW visa type take pretty longer time than other visa types :/

About the docs that were asked, it’s case by case. One of my friends, she submitted her N3 certificate but 4 months after her docs were submitted, the immigration asked for the score paper of her N3 while the immigration didn’t ask my other friends for the score paper.

Hello everyone!!!!

Application Date: 12-20-2022
Immigration Office: Sendai Branch
Visa type: SSW for careworker

Status: COE has been approved today! Our
agency is just about to send a return
envelope with a stamp to the Registry
Management Division. Then, that
mentioned office will send the COE
back to our agency's office. Then again,
our agency is going to send it to our
local agency for visa application to the
Japan Embassy.

Has someone experiencing or know or idea like this situation?

I have already my visa as SSW and unfotunately I cant be deployed by the time of deployment scheduled because I need to undergo my operation. My agency and employer reassured me that they are just waiting for my healing and my doctors clearance after operation.

Question is , The visa is only valid for 3months , What if Im not done for 3months? What will happen to my visa?Or what will be the process of it(visa) if im still recovering for 3months?

Hi, is getting called to communicate approval standard practice? Because I thought I just had to wait for the COE in my box letter but maybe I should wait for a call first? My visa type is different as I am married to a Japanese national

Re: COE processing times 2023/2/17 08:44
@sw,
In most cases they called for the documents and after accepting the Coe then they call again that the COE will be issued soon and will be deliver to your postal address.
Maybe they will call you before issuing the COE, or they will send you directly.
Anyway, you should be patience and waiting for the good result.
thanks,

Re: COE processing times 2023/2/17 12:16
I know it's a little preemptive to be posting here but I thought I'd add myself to the thread and update as others have done! I thought it could be helpful considering a lot of people haven't really mentioned where they're from, their timeline, etc.

I'm a Korean-American who's graduating with a bachelor's degree in about 3 months, I'll be going to university as a graduate student in Tokyo, and I've just submitted my final documentation to my school contact in Japan. Luckily my contact has helped facilitate/process many COE applications throughout his years, and so after about 2 weeks of back and forth, showing/editing/getting documents, he is confident that there are no questions that they'll have to ask (aka no delays). I'm ready for delays regardless, but he said he'd be submitting my application alongside some others on the 23rd. He also says that based on last year's COE timeline around this same time, I should expect to hear back around mid-May. I'm supposed to start classes in July, so hopefully this timeline works out for the best! Will be updating as I hear back and learn more.

citizenship/nationality: American
ethnicity: Korean
VISA type: Student
applied for COE: pending February 23rd
COE approval/rejection eta: May 12th

Re: COE processing times 2023/2/18 23:50
Hi everyone

Has anyone received their COE in a different way? I mean, when my husband and I applied for my COE in December we also gave them the the envelope with our address. However, today (Saturday) when my husband was not home we received something from the immigration. He needs to go to the post office tomorrow morning to grab it. I’m very worried that not only is not the actual COE but that is also bad news. Is there any chance that that is the actual COE? If so why not send with the standard envelope we provided?

Re: COE processing times 2023/2/19 12:40
@sw

Assuming that this notice to visit the post office is from the post office itself (like a slip saying you missed the person dropping off), I'm sure you're fine. If that's the case it's possible they just needed a signature or they needed to prove identity in order to receive the mail. Otherwise, I'm not really sure.

Re: COE processing times 2023/2/19 15:41
@sw

We didn't receive call from immi about any additional infos before, but our family in Japan called them last week, immi said our COE is in final state and will receive it soon. We expected COE to arrives in the middle of March, after 3 months, but got it in 2 months.
A big stress is gone now, we just need to apply for Visa beginning of Mars, and take airplane :).

How was your letter? Was it your COE? I really hope so!!

Is 申請番号 or application number really matter? For example if my number is 104xxx and my friend's number is 103xxx, the same category visa, does it mean that my friend's will published first? Thanks

Re: COE processing times 2023/2/20 09:35
@OzzyFR @coffee

Thank you to everyone who replied. Luckily what arrived was the actual COE. I’ve read people saying they found it in their mail box so I assumed that was standard practice as for the phone calls some do get for their approval. We never got called, they only sent a letter asking for a missing form. We never tried to call for updates. So here’s my timeline:

Visa Type - spouse of Japanese National
Nationality - Italian
21st Dec 22 - applied at Tokyo immigration branch
20th Jan 23 - they sent a letter asking for a missing form, arrived at our place on 23rd Jan and we sent the form back the following day
14th Feb - approved (date written on COE)
18th Feb- received

Such a relief. Good luck everyone!
