Recent info for bed bugs?

Is this really a big topic to be concerned about when staying in a hotel? You're staying in Japan, which people are absolutely adamant when it comes to cleanliness. This isn't some 3rd world country that you need to worry about bed bugs.

If your biggest worry is about an irrational fear of something like this, then why would you even want to stay in a hotel in the first place? I've literally NEVER had any issue in Japan and have stayed at quite a few hotels over the years, even ones that are much lower rated than others.

I mean, there are natural ways to get rid of them or ward them off if you're really worried about it like using essential oils.

The increase of bed bugs in Japan is a serious problem that citizens have been warned about through bulletins. I'm sure we're not the only "advanced country" that suffer serious bugs, but regardless, I believe that Japan has stayed fairly clean mostly because residents and visitors have been conscious and courteous about keeping it that way. You can't automatically shut out filth. You need the effort.
