Hi, I'm thinking of doing the same thing. Does anyone know if I convert my UK license to a japanese license, can I still drive in the UK when I go home to visit family for summer, Christmas etc....

You keep your English license as well. They arenft taking that away. (At least thatfs how it works with the German license and Ifd be surprised if the Japanese driving authority would be able to take away your British one.

Jacobfs concern is reasonable, because UK seems not to allow the two driving licenses (foreign and domestic) in UK. UK government doesn't return foreign driving licenses to the applicants. there is no such a rule in Japan. as Likebike mentioned. you can keep the both. https://www.uk.emb-japan.go.jp/itpr_ja/index_000048.htmlthe above web indicates that UK government returns the cards to Japanese embassy in UK. the embassy returns those cards to the Japanese applicants.
