Hi, I'm confused about "yamanami highway"

I planned to drive Hozentei to Aso, via 11

From Aso to Kurokawa to Yufuin, stop at Chojabaru, Tadewara Marsh

Where is Yamanami? Is that a more scenic route?

Yamanami Highway is r11 road, Beppu - Ichinomiya road. There're Shiroyama Observatory, Senomoto, Chojabaru, and onto Yufuin.
