Back in the day (about 9-8-7 years ago) i used to get a lot of the 2000 yen notes from ATMs at convenience stores. But i haven't seen any for a while now. Whenever i used them to pay for something shop staff always seemed slightly taken aback by them (but i never had any problems with them being accepted).
