COE processing times

ARJ@ WHICH country ur from my lawyer also said immi officer said to him coe issue around 2 weeks but didnt receive yet waiting for my result

My sponsor applied my coe application to sendai immigration on Feb 7th 2023. I was asked to fill a questionnaire on Feb 13th. The filled version was submitted to immigration on 28th Feb. I did not receive any response yet. I have applied to Professor visa. Has anyone else faced such situation.

Just want to add data point:

Applied for CoE (eng/special/internat) - 12 Jan
Approved - 31 March
Received original - 9 April

Applied online to Tokyo immigration via agency. During the wait period, no additional documents or information was asked.

This forum was useful in giving me a timeline for the CoE. Thank you everyone for contributing to it

@CA Did you receive COE by email? As per my knowledge after march 17th , they have made the COE digitised.

@srv, no not in my case. You can only receive the digital copy if you request and add the email detail in the online application. Since my agency applied for me long before the rule, they did not request for email specific copy. You cannot add email request once application is in screening stage

My answer might have some gaps, but this is what I understood from immigration and agency

there's no way to check one's COE status online as far as I know. If you want, you could call the office and ask.

it's already over 4 months waiting for CoE (applied in Osaka bureau), is there anyone who applied to Osaka bureau and facing the same problems like me? I really worried because they have said it'll be issued in 2nd week of april but until now it hasn't been issued yet.

I would like to clear some confusion related to COE delivery. I have applied for it online before 17th march and during application there was no option to select email in method of receiving, so i chose "by post".
But since it is possible now, i want to receive it by email. Does anyone know how can i change that or if someone has received it by email even after they selected by post during there online application.

Question: is it possible for a COE applicant to enter Japan on a temporary vistor status (no need to apply for a visa) during the COE application process?

Same here December 22nd applied Yokohama immigration same visa category(eng/int/specialist) still no revert from immigration next week 4 months .
Only answer got from immigration too many applications due to that it'll be bit delay than usual.
Hope its a good thing that they didn't request any extra or additional documents till now.
Patiently waiting while hoping for the best. Think all over Tokyo is so busy due to too much applications coz from everyone got the same or similar answers.

This group has been useful to understand the COE issuance time for several cases.
Let me share my case as well for needed ones' reference.

Visa type: 1 Engineer(me) and 2 Dependents(wife and 5 yo daughter)
Applied by Employer: Category 1 Company (not online application)
Application submitted on 16-Mar
Location: Yokohama
COE paper received by Employer: 17-Apr.

Hope everyone waiting wil get their COEs soon.
