Hello I've been practicing Kendo for about two years (with Bamboo) and wanted to move onto practice with a katana. The one I plan on getting costs $200 and these are the specifications.
Overall Length: 110cm Blade length: 70cm Tsuka (handle) length: 30cm Blade material: 1095 High Carbon Steel Blade treatment: Hand Forged, Through Hardened, oil quenched, Hand Polished. Blade Hardiness :50-55 HRC Blade type: Fully Hand Sharpened Tsuba: Roojin Tsuba. Tsuka(Handle): White Rayskin wrapped with Red Japanese cotton Ito with Menuki (ornament). Tang: Full tang with two Mekugi. Saya: Red lacquered solid wood. Sageo: Red Japanese cotton.
I've done some research on this subject but wanted an expert opinion. It's alos a live blade but I don't plan on cutting anything, just movement practice.
