Checking mobile phone email

Rimjhim,
So if i stays outside of Japan, i can't check my cellphone's e-mail.
As others have said, I don't think this is possible. In fact, I think emails are returned undelivered after a few days if they cannot be delivered to the phone (i.e. if it is switched off for long periods). With Vodafone, this used to happen after 3 days, but I'm not sure what the situation is with email to AU phones.

Rimjhim,
If you don't switch off your phone, then emails will be delivered as normal... at least until the batteries run out.

My friend has a Vodafone phone and an email @s.vodafone.ne.jp
She told me to contact her from that email but I haven't heard from her. I don't know if the email went through.
Are there problems with sending emails from Hotmail to Vodafone usually?

Probably she is refusing any email other than those form Japanese phones to avoid spam, and doesn't know it is also applied to you.
Ask her to add your email address to her white list.

I confirmed that if using Hotmail to email to a mobile phone in Japan (in my case only tested for AU's ezweb) - then someone is right that u should turn off rich-text format.
Otherwise, only the Subject comes up but the message can become completely blank.
I'm also not sure if there is a physical limit to the size of the email that could be received?

Depends on the phone model.
but i dont know how much they carge to her... is it expensive for her???
Depends on the tariff, but should not be so expensive. 0.3 yen / 128 bytes or less.

I don't even know if my friend got my email because he hasn't replied yet.
If I send in rich text, the subject should show but the text doesn't show right? I would expect him to email me and tell me that.
But have any of you experienced that none of your emails from hotmail are going through vodafone at all?

I just tested sending an e-mail from my own hotmail account to my own Japan-based 3G vodafone in Japan (it is set to receive e-mails from PC addresses as well as mobile phone addresses), and yes as someone mentioned, the "subject" line appeared alright, but the text (I did not change any setting on my hotmail) appeared as "html attachment," and when I opened the attachment it was completely garbled :( I tried another hotmail e-mail to a friend's Japan-based non-3G (somewhat older) vodafone, and the "html" attachment could not be opened...
So, I'd say that if the vodafone is set to receive PC-based e-mails (= the recipient is not blocking all PC-based e-mails in order to prevent spam mails reaching them), and if the e-mail address is right, SOMETHING should be reaching the vodafone in Japan, even if it's just the "subject" line that could be read.

Ok, please turn off the rich-text format in hotmail or yahoo and everything seems to work fine.

Probably the recipient is refusing email not sent from Japanese phones to avoid spam.

I Understand all the above posted comments, but I have a slightly diffrent issue. I have a friend in the states from Japan and she still has her japanese cell Phone. she gave me her phone's email address but it has multiple periods in the address. (ai...asdfasd...asdadf@docomo.ne.jp) I tried emailing to this address from my hotmail account but it didn't work. I am trying to find sn inexpensive way aof comunicating without having to call "Japan" everytime I want to talk to her. Any thoughts?

Raul,
Tell her the problem, and ask whether she can change her docomo email address to a valid internet-compliant email address. Failing that, suggest she gets herself a Hotmail account.
