COE processing times

COE Type - Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/Int'l Services + Dependent

Status - Issued 2nd August 2023

Applied by my Employer through a lawyer.

We were expecting to receive the COE in 8 weeks but it took almost 3 months.

My side Applied on June 2022 ,till date not received my coe ,I am asked my agent he told that wait for one month,japan embassy not released coe stop now procces ,kindly i need help

@Arunkumar your COE still not release and its already a year of waiting now? what kind of coe you applied and in which immigration?

Already gone 7 months and 20 days applied business manager visa have any get this please update

Once the COE issued, are we going to have a notification from the Immigration Office or are we going to receive directly the envelope with certificate inside?

One of my friend received her wife's coe today (applied 10 July). Dependent visa

Application type: Dependent COE
Date of application: June 15th
Application office: Yokohama
Status: Pending

Just wanted to add my data point ^^ I think I'll start freaking out when it gets over 3 months...

It seems like Yokohama might be a slow office tho. Anyone can confirm ?

@Azami I am also waiting for a COE from Yokohama (engineer/humanities visa) that was submitted on June 5th. Let’s hope Yokohama isn’t a slow office (fingers crossed)

@Azami at least we do not have to send it by mail. The normal printed copy is also usable.

Q4: The Certificate of Eligibility will not arrive by the time I apply for a visa. Can I still apply for a visa with its copy?

A4: From March 17, 2023, it will be possible to receive a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) by email and to apply for landing by presenting the email. When applying for a visa, the application can be accepted by presenting the email or submitting the printed copy. For those who have a paper Certificate of Eligibility, they can also apply for landing and a visa by submitting its printed copy after March 17.

No additional documents asked, no updates, no nothing.

Anyone with a similar case? Is there any way to find out what is actually going on except "waiting"?
Extremely frustrated & disappointed on the immigration bureau's working procedure.

@KR. Who applied? Husband or lowyer? Is your husband follow the immigration ? If it your husband applied call to immigration & ask what is the situation

Japanese Spouse coe process could take a way too much time since they are checking everything. The submitted documents almost double of the documents that submitted while applying non-Japanese dependent visa.
