Where to buy Yamazaki Single Malt Whiskey

Just went back the price was actaully 12800 yen. Not sure how I misread that.

I was back in Takayama last week and to the bottle shop I frequent. Their Yamazaki 12 was up to Y17,600 - I have not seen it for a while, but supply and demand has pushed up the price.

Just got back from Japan and I guess I got super lucky.
Two days ago I picked up the last two hibiki 21 at the Don Quixote by kyoto station for a amazing price of 24,900. There are still one or two hibiki 17 for 11900 when I left but don't know if they're still there anymore. Also picked up yamazaki 18 for 27,000 at the distillery.

I was in Takyama today as well and saw the Yamazaki 12yrs in some shops for around 17'000 yen. Can it be that the prices are higher everywhere now as you guys mentioned you have seen the Yamazaki 12 yrs for half the price?

There is one Yamazaki 12 for 8500 plus tax near Shin Osaka station as of today.
Hashimoto Saketen near Shin Osaka station.
East gate exit. Cross the road turn right for about 200m. Then a little side street really hard to explain. I bought the 2016 Yamazaki Limited for 12000, Hibiki 17 for 12000 and the Nikka Taketsuri 21 for 15000.
Only the Yamazaki 12 is left. 1 bottle.

Was in Japan a week ago. Found some good deals in Tokyo:

(neighborhood shop near Kappabashi which is west of Asakusa)

Was also in Fukuoka in the latter part of my trip and found that the Don Quijote on Nakasu Island was stocked! Didn't buy any as I have exceeded my duty-free limit, but here's what they had:

One advice from my experience, don't bother with the Don Quijote outside of tourist areas. They don't really stock them there as they don't sell well in those locations. Happy hunting!

Charles, where specifically in Tokyo did you see the Yamazaki 18? I went around the area you mentioned just now (literally, I just got back to my hotel) and couldn't find any.

Vintage Nikka is easier. The Suntory brands much harder (Yamazaki and Hibiki) bordering on the impossible because their production process is they don't just make it all the time. Even Hibiki nv can be hard to find (but tasty). Easiest I find these days is via Amazon.

In NAGANO and found Hibiki 17 at 18,000+. Had to get a few as can't it anywhere.
Yamazaki 18 was 45,000+tax. And got that too as don't want to risk not getting it at DF. Am I happy... hell yes. Oh and how can I forget my mate got a Hibiki 21 for 35,000+ as we can't see it anywhere. Both stoked!!!!

Went to Yamazaki distillery last week and loved it! OMG how cheap are the drinks. I was hoping to score a bottle of either Yama 18 or Hibiki 21 but nothing in Gift shop so tried my luck with asking the sweet lady at the bar.... no luck!!!!guttered but hey! So I decided I needed to get creative as no shops I went into (over 15 places I recon) had any and told me same- doesn't come in.
Searched the web and a guy who could hook me up and did so. Paid more than retail but what the hell, I have my whisky.
DF was lame so I was lucky as hell!!!

October 2017. there are Hakushu 12 left at the supermaket near Skytree for around 8900\. I went to Shinjuku and walked through several dept stores. I saw one Yamazaki 12yr bottle left at BIC Camera in Akihabara 秋叶原. without thinking,I snatched it right away.

I am in Osaka right now. The other day I came across a mom & pop store that has 2 bottles of Yamazaki 12 years at 12,000\ before tax. Is that a reasonable price or there are still places in Osaka n Kyoto where I can still get one for less than 10,000\? Will be in Kyoto later this afternoon.
