November 19, 2014 - A Day on Miyajima Island
As part of my 2-weeks trip in Japan, I visited Miyajima Island as a day-trip from Hiroshima.
I took the Hiroshima streetcar from Fukuru-machi station (2 minutes walk from the hotel I was staying at) to Hiroden-Miyajima-guchi station, and then the JR ferry to get to the island.

My first destination on the island was Ituskushima Shrine which was at low tide. It's probably much more impressive during a high tide.

Next, I headed to Momijidani (Maple Valley) park to see some autumn colors, and the colors were spectacular around the park.

After hiking around the park, I ascended mount Misen, and had beautiful views of the Inland Sea from the top.

The autumn colors were much more vivid on the trail down from the ropeway station exit

After eating, I was waiting to see the floating torii gate during sunset. The pro photographers took their spots, the tide rose and the scenery was amazing.

I ended this unforgettable day with a deep-fried momiji cake.
