November 27, 2011 - late afternoon trip to Arashiyama

It was a day full of fall colors! We got here in the late afternoon, almost wished we got here more early so I would have more time to spend here. After arriving at the Saga-Arashiyama Station, we walked toward the river. Through all the people & small shops selling food along the road. So many colors, so many people, so many boats....wish we had more time to take a boat trip. Just one more beautiful place in Japan, if you are any where near Kyoto or Nara, be sure to go here!

lots of boats! you could paddle yourself or be taken on a tour up river

on a boat or just walking a path....beautiful all the same

next time I will go ealrier and take a trip up the river

walk through all the beautiful colors and come to a big bamboo forest

I could lay down and look up in the bamboo all day, so relaxing!

and the short walk into the small town, THOUSANDS of people had the same idea to go see the beautiful fall colors

there is much more to see here. only so much space to add photos. A beauiful temple complex in the middle of all the colors. I just don't have those pictures loaded at this time. But one more beautiful place that if you are anywhere nearby... be sure to stop here.
