The following is a suggested itinerary for first time travelers to Japan who spend 12 days, 11 nights in the Kanto Region around Tokyo.

Day 1 - Arrive at Narita Airport
Arrive at Narita Airport, and spend the remaining day in Tokyo.
Day 2-5 - Tokyo
Spend four full days in Tokyo. Consider our suggested Tokyo itineraries.
Day 6-7 - Nikko
Purchase a Nikko Pass and use it to take a two day trip to Nikko, two hours north of Tokyo.
Day 8 - Kamakura Daytrip
Undertake a one day trip to Kamakura, one hour south of Tokyo.
Day 9 - Yokohama Daytrip
Undertake a one day trip to Yokohama, 30 minutes south of Tokyo.
Day 10-11 - Hakone
Purchase a 2-day Hakone Free Pass and use it to take a two day trip to Hakone. Stay at a ryokan and experience a Japanese hot spring. Avoid weekends.
Day 12 - Depart from Narita Airport
Depart Japan from Narita Airport.
