How to travel between Kinosaki and Osaka

By train

Osaka and Kinosaki are connected by direct JR limited express trains. The one way trip takes about 2.5 hours, costs 5730 yen for unreserved seats or around 6500 yen for reserved seats and is fully covered by the Japan Rail Pass and JR West Kansai Wide Area Pass which is a good value for a side trip from Osaka to Kinosaki.

By bus

Zentan Bus operates multiple round trips per day between Osaka and Kinosaki. The one way trip takes three hours and costs 3700 yen. Online reservations can be made through Willer and Japan Bus Online.

By air

Japan Air Commuter (JAL Group) operates two flights per day between Osaka's Itami Airport and Konotori Tajima Airport near Kinosaki. Flight time is 40 minutes. The regular one way fare is around 14,000 yen, however discount tickets are usually available for between 7000 and 8000 yen. Kinosaki can be reached in a 45 minute bus ride from Konotori Tajima Airport.

Orientation

Kinosaki is a compact town and can be fully explored on foot. It takes about 15-25 minutes to walk from the train station at the eastern end of town to the Kono-yu bath house at the western end of town.

Konotori Tajima Airport is the closest airport to Kinosaki, a 45 minute bus ride south of Kinosaki near the city center of Toyooka City. The Konotori no Sato Oriental Stork Sanctuary is also located close to Toyooka city center.
