Takayama accommodation alternatives

Hi,

We plan on watching the Takayama festival held April 14th. Seems like all budget accommodations are full already :-( What is the best alternative or closest place accessible by convenient public transportation?

I was able to find accommodation in nearby Hida-Furukawa during past festivals. Some of the ryokan there provide staying guests with a shuttle bus to the evening festival:

Sorry, I just realized that you are looking for budget accommodation. So, please ignore my suggestion of the Yatsusankan.

A quick search on Jalan shows there are still plenty of budget options available in Gero Onsen.
