I will be driving from Sapporo to Noboribetsu in July. Which route is better in term of time-distance and scenery wise:
- via Chitose/Tomakomai
- or via Lake Shikotsu

By expressway is fast and not particularly scenic. Through the mountains via Shikotsuko is much slower, but much more interesting in terms of scenery.
